Marion GG comment in EW

Entertainment Weekly ran an article about this year's Golden Globes, and gets a nice quote from Marion:

For the year's many provocative smaller films, like Diving Bell, No Country For Old Men, Juno, and There Will Be Blood, the spotlight of a glitzy awards show would have been particularly welcome. "A lot of movies this year are about something," says Schnabel. For her part, Marion Cotillard, who won best actress in a musical or comedy for her performance as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, is trying to maintain a healthy perspective, despite the fact that she was deprived of her first big red-carpet moment. (Cotillard looks nothing like she did in Rose.) "I'm not disappointed or bittersweet," she says. "I'm just enjoying this. I can't try and think what it could have been."

'First big red - carpet moment', oh for god sake, they are insular; the woman has been on red carpets in Cannes, Berlinae etc. for years.

I think they meant her first big AMERICAN red-carpet moment. She's already an established actress in France and Europe, but here she is virtually unknown. Add in the fact that her film slipped under the radar here, and she needs a lot of exposure here to keep herself relevant to Oscar voters, as sad and awful a process it is.

Well, it will all be over in just over a month. No one can say the poor woman isn't practically breaking her back to get the film recognition. If she doesn't win, it isn't from the want of trying. In any case, it has done wonders for her career, on both sides of the Atlantic, and she will definitely have her pick of roles from now on; in France, Britain, the rest of Europe, America etc.

I like how you think, poppy. This makes her the biggest winner already because she has so many opportunities all across the globe.

Well that's just it; she is the very definite winner, career wise, even if she doesn't win the Oscar. She will on a par with Audrey Tautou after this; I don't know about America, but god knows, that woman is practically considered a goddess here in Europe. If I was in Marion’s shoes, the real dream would probably be to have a career like ‘La Binoche’.

Ah yes, la Binoche. In my book, she can do no wrong. I think Marion has the talent and the brains to build an international career like Binoche. The world is indebted to France for all the film luminaries they've given us movie lovers (and I'm talking about people like Signoret, Moreau, Deneuve as well).
