she looks great! really cute, and I loved the way she was smiling haha.

If she wins this one, the job is almost done.

If she does not win..... well.....Tomorrow will be another day.

She 's been doing great so far. Very serious girl. She has what is needed to become an international actress with a strong worldwide fanbase.

I agree. It's almost like a win/win situation tonight. I just hope they show a fantastic film clip (even though they'll probably show like 2 seconds of footage).

Hey Christophe,

I looked at the TNT website but I can't find a live feed link. Sorry :(

If 'nine' goes ahead, fingers crossed. There is rumours that she will be in another film with Bale and Depp, that is sceduled to begin filming in March. Looks good, a proper thirties ganster film.

Well she looked stunning I love the blue dress.I am nervous , it's weird but I am afraid that she would loose to Hellee Paige because Juno is so popular in America.

Hi Christophe,
Go to www.tbs.com and click on SAG Award Live on line video. They show Press Room Coverage live and Photo line video live. These are appearances back stage after they receive the award and let the press interview and take photos. It is kind of slow but at least it Live on line.
Good luck.

I think her dress look the best so far, even the guy who interview her said the same thing.

I was closing my eyes and when I eared Julie Christy I felt sick.

When they showed the "Marcel! Marcel!" clip, I thought - this is great!!! and then, Christie's name is announced!! I got teary eyed hahaha, I had my fingers crossed hahaha

Christie said she had to be "pushed" on stage. She was cute, though. Just looked like she'd rather be anywhere else.

Hopefully Cotillard can pull of a win at the Oscars!

Dorothy Porker said...

Yeah, I'll keep believing until that last minute. What a wonderful ending that would be.

And Amy, I got pretty sad too.

May be american actors don't know a lot Marion... may be this is the reason...
But me I'm french, I live in Paris, and I already met Marion for a ceremony, I can say she is really pleasant, cute, simple, humble, beautifull !!!

One thing is sure !! She will win in France the best actress Cesar!!

I cross fingers for Oscars !

Amy Ryan should've won for BSA, too.

And Pirates for stunt ensemble.

Julie Christie is an icon in the US. She also already has an Oscar. I'd thought since her film was small and delicate, and Marion gave this all-out, feral performance, our girl would win. But she met everyone in Hollywood tonight, and work will follow. Look who else "lost" tonight -- Cate Blanchette, Vanessa Redgrave, Glenn Close. Not bad company to be a non-winner in. And isn't Marion also a nominee at the BAFTA?

Fecking screeners....srsly!

Julia, Christie won Best Drama Actress at the Globes - so this is no pity award.

I think Amy Ryan or Blanchett should've won Supporting, but oh well!

that last bit of Christie's speech was cute with the whole "still in character if I've forgotten anyone" ha!

I'm still crossing my fingers for Marion!! I hope there's a ceremony now!! LOL' I mean, can you imagine NO OSCARS??? NO!!! *knocks on wood*

please pretty please, no more strikes!

I'm so sad :( I was expecting to be happy for Marion today.

And Right there with you eegah, you can tell there are a lot of TV actors in the guild they probably have no idea what "La vie en rose" was.
Did you guys watch the red carpet on TV guide it was a painfull experience,I actually started feeling physical pain from watching Joey Fatone and that trampy soap actress flirting with every man she crossed , they didnt even mentioned Marion once it was all about Hellene Page and Javier Bardem not a single word for Marion, except at one point an horny cameraman shot her boobs,I endure a freaking Red carpet on tv guide for nothing,do you guys have an idea how hard it is for a man to watch a red carpet on tv guide ?!!!
Lol I still have flashback from it..brrrrr!

Eoghan McQ said...

I haven't seen any footage of the awards yet...I don't know if I want to. Except DDL's speech, perhaps - I'm glad he mentioned Heath, he's such a sensitive actor at heart. As for Christie's win? I guess there's a reason they call it the "sag".

LOL' Everyone seems bitter now. Sadness...

I don't get TV Guide, I saw Live from the Red Carpet from E! - not that I enjoy Guliana giggling with that other E! correspondent who was filling in for Seacrest. They didn't really mentioned Marion either, or she didn't even get to talk to them, but they did had quite a long shot on her while Blanchett was talking to them... they even made Blanchett the small picture-in-picture.

LOL, and even if I don't enjoy TV actors that much... come on! saying that there were a lot of TV actors in the guild, is just generalizing that they don't know what La Vie en Rose is...

Well maybe you are right,I was just telling that to myself to think that Marion still had a chance at the oscar, that it would be a lot different.
I was thinking about Christey What really bug me is that she had not a single word for her fellow nominee and I do find this rude and disrespectfull.BArdem and Day Lewis thoses are real classy people,I think it really tells a lot about an actor as a person if they will think about dropping a word for their fellow nominee most of the other winners did...not Christy.
Even Cotilliard , when she lost she still stood up and clapped for Christy with a smile on her face, that's a real lady.I'm sorry for Christy fan but for me she do come out to me as a person who really think she's all that. I dont know maybe I say that because I'm disapointed for Marion.

Stay positive guys.
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Marion Cotillard, who was nominated for an Oscar for her star turn as Edith Piaf in "La Vie en Rose," is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the Depression-era crime drama "Public Enemies."
An adaptation of Brian Burrough's book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-43," the story follows the government's attempt to stop the criminals John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. Depp is playing Dillinger to Bale's famed FBI agent Melvin Purvis.
Cotillard will play Billie, Dillinger's torch singer girlfriend.
Michael Mann ("The Insider," "Collateral," "Miami Vice") is directing for Universal. Mann wrote the script with Ronan Bennett and Ann Biderman.

Awww, I'm gutted. :( With all due respect to Christie, she is in her mid-60s now and by the time you get to that age manners go out the window and you really don't give a damn what people think! The mask kind of slips when you become older.

I do take the point though, that it should go to someone who really cares.. in a sense I like Christie for it, who like Day-Lewis is anti-Hollywood. But not just that, Marion really is the deserving winner. It seems like the Oscar people want to give a nice career capper to JC, a literal second coming and make a new record for longest span between wins. Sigh. But I maintain that in most other years - say, if she was up against Mirren or Theron, she wouldn't win.

It's quite clear that if La Marion doesn't get it, then NO foreign actress ever well get it - Sophia Loren was obviously a special case. Were Fernanda Montenegro, Catalina Sandino Moreno and the last French language nominee(?) Deneuve actual favourites to win the same way Marion was?

Still, Oscar is known for shocks - look at how different their line-up is with Linney beating Jolie and TLJ coming out of nowhere and beating poor and clearly too young for biased best actor Emile Hirsch. I think Marion has more on her side than Adrien Brody did, who as far as I can gather literally came out of nowhere with little precusor love. :)

loom, I love you! Thanks for expressing all of the thoughts that have been running through my head today. I couldn't agree more.

As I have mentioned Christie has many old friends in SAG, and some of them are powerful, e.g. Warren Beatty. But still, today's NEW YORK TIMES points out that SAG has a tendency to reward what's popular, rather than what's quality. Look guys, Angelina Jolie didn't win last night! Nor was she nominated for an Oscar. Marion was a presenter at the Director's Guild Awards, SAG, and possibly the Oscars (if they happen). This is amazing for someone who is "just getting known" in America. People in Hollywood would start a gang war to be a presenter at these top shows. It's all about getting more work, and with NINE and PUBLIC ENEMIES coming up, with great costars, Marion is definitely A- List in the USA already. Sure, I wish her work had won one of those ugly SAGgy guys, but those of you who speculate that Oscar can turn over a few rocks are right on target. Let's see what happens. Meanwhile, it's really nice to support an artist who cares more about her work, and experiencing life to the fullest, than winning awards.
